Today’s story about a person who taught me a lot — his name is Harry Pollit. I myself hit 44 years old and until recently I thought that my life had already taken place. Your home, workshop, normal earnings, even despite the crisis, what else is needed?
Why change something, everything looked out, and later. And so consider many of my classmates, work colleagues, partners. But thanks to Harry, I now think that I’m still ahead and never too late to change something in my life.
But first things first.
From early childhood, Harry, he knew what would be … carpenter. Yes, yes, yes, it is a carpenter. He studied at school, often Shaliel and dismissed, for which he was expelled from the class and he went to play the current school in the courtyard. There, in the shadow of a hand-built slag, he loved to look at the current water, on whitewasher, the creek, overflowing and the game of waves.
Sometimes he took a notebook in his hands and tried to draw a picture of the waves on paper. There were beautiful wavy lines, although none of the teachers could not appreciate children’s creativity.
Years passed, Harry rose rose, looked at the carpenter and got a job — he built at home. In his free time, the young man began to cut the waves from the tree, which he watched in childhood during the seating over the school stream.
Its first sculpture from carved wood attracted critics and he even won some regional exhibition. For more than 20 years, Harry has improved his art carver on wood. Exactly until at 40 with some years he met an old friend who told him:
Starina, tree, it is, of course, cool, but in the glass such things will look more cooler. Try, suddenly it turns out.
Just imagine, a man walks the fifth decade, he is a successful wood artist, and, in principle, everything is like everyone else: it works in a private firm, life has developed, family, house, car, mortgage, children …
And he risked. Harry Pollit took up glass. No, he did not go to the disciples to famous masters, he decided to learn everything himself. The comprehension of the junction with the glass took him three years. Only in 2011, he was able to take part in the exhibition of glass fiber.
And he showed!
Yes, so showed that, according to a unanimous decision, the jury took the first prize and left 300 glasswater masters behind his back. And thanks to the won money was able to pay a mortgage debt and completely close the loan.
As you understand, all the work of Harry in the glass is associated with the theme of water. Such sculptures only makes it and takes more than two months of thread, smelting and manual polishing.
At his first exhibition, he was asked by a chorus, which machine he polishes his products to such a state.
He silently showed two hands.
Each detail, each bending is polished by a manual master!
Naturally, he is now a recognized master glass, he has his own studio and a big store, there are students, and now the colleagues-glassware admitted his skill. Just as before, Harry sometimes goes to the back yard of her house and looks at the bends of the water in the stream, which flows there.
I could talk about technical techniques that the master uses the semantics of his art, use beautiful words and smart phrases.
Only there is no point in this, today’s story was not about this, the story that it never too late to change. It does not matter 40 to you, 50 or 60 maybe more if you feel that you need to do something, something to change something, then …
Better to do it.
It is better to do and regret once than not to make an important step and the remaining time to regret it.
And one more thing, in a conversation with me Harry said:
We also have in
