OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro presented: flagships with Snapdragon 888 and cool cameras from Hasselblad

On Tuesday, March 23rd, the Chinese company OnePlus held a presentation of its new devices. The highlight of the event was the long-awaited flagship OnePlus 9 series, which includes three models. We have already talked about the youngest of them called OnePlus 9R. And now we’re talking about two other smartphones: the base OnePlus 9 and the top-end OnePlus 9 Pro. They are powered by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset and sport cameras created in collaboration with legendary camera maker Hasselblad. But first things first.

The Pro version received the best camera from Hasselblad in the OnePlus 9 series. The main camera of the smartphone includes a Sony IMX789 main sensor with a resolution of 48 megapixels and optical image stabilization, a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 module with an ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2-megapixel black and white sensor and an 8-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3.3x optical zoom.

At the front, the OnePlus 9 Pro has a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED panel, which has an adaptive image refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, Quad HD + resolution, 1300 nits peak brightness, 240 Hz sampling rate and an integrated optical fingerprint scanner. A small notch in the upper left corner of the display houses a 16MP selfie camera with wide-angle optics.

The company has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal memory, as well as a cooling system with a steam chamber. A 4500 mAh rechargeable battery with 65W fast wired charging and 50W fast wireless charging is responsible for the autonomy of the smartphone. According to the manufacturer, a full charge via USB Type-C takes only 29 minutes, and with a wireless charger 43 minutes. From wireless connections, the device supports 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC.

The start of sales of OnePlus 9 Pro is scheduled for March 31. The issue price is $ 970 for the version with 8/128 GB of memory and $ 1070 for the version with 12/256 GB of memory.

As for the basic version of the flagship, it has a more modest version of Hasselblad cameras. The rear has a 48MP main camera with an older Sony IMX689 sensor, which is powered by the same 50MP Sony IMX766 ultra wide-angle camera as the Pro version and a 2MP monochrome sensor. A notch on the bezel houses a 16MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calling.

The OnePlus 9 display is a 6.55-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD + resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 1100 nits maximum brightness. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor is complemented by a new Cool Play cooling system, LPDDR5 RAM and built-in UFS 3.1 class storage, like the Pro version.

For the autonomy of the base model, a 4500 mAh battery with fast wired 65 W charging is responsible. Qi wireless charging power has been reduced to 15W.

Both smartphones have stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, updated tactile feedback engines and run the Android 11 mobile operating system with the OxygenOS 11 shell.

The OnePlus 9 goes on sale this Friday, March 26th. Prices start at $ 730 for the model with 8/128 GB of memory and reach $ 830 for the version with 12/256 GB of memory.
